National Licensing Agreement Signed With Adobe Canada
July 17, 2007 -- Canada’s first national software licensing agreement for municipalities is in place for members of MISA/ASIM Canada.
The agreement with Adobe Systems Canada marks the first time that municipalities in all regions of Canada are being offered the same low price and standard conditions for the licensing of products from a vendor.
The agreement gives all municipalities that are members of the five regional associations within MISA/ASIM Canada the right to purchase Adobe products at a standard 12-per-cent discount from regular published prices, provided that a certain minimum value of products is ordered and that the order is placed through Softchoice Corporation, an Adobe distributor.
Previously, Ottawa-based Adobe Systems Canada and the Vancouver office of Softchoice had signed a licensing agreement in 2006 to cover all member municipalities of MISA BC.
That agreement was put together by MISA BC President David Hennigan, IT manager for the Capital Regional District, and Richard Hannaford, Adobe’s representative at Softchoice.
This year Hennigan, along with Gerry Matte, IT manager of the Municipality of Saanich and past president of MISA BC, renegotiated the agreement to include all MISA/ASIM Canada member associations – the four chapters of MISA plus RIMQ in Quebec.
In addition to the discounted prices, this agreement extends to upgrade plans, and covers electronic software delivery for some products as well as access to Adobe’s licensing Web site.
For more details, and to take advantage of this offer, member municipalities within the five MISA/ASIM Canada associations are invited to contact any one of the five Canadian sales branches of Softchoice or visit www.softchoice.com.
