The Town of Ajax has launched a new interactive online survey tool - the Budget Builder - to allow residents to help shape the 2014 Budget.

This new tool allows residents to prioritize spending by allocating how they would like to see their tax dollars spent in 2014. Residents have the choice of keeping funding at 2013 levels, or increasing or decreasing funding levels in various spending areas.

At the conclusion of the survey, residents are able to submit their budgets (for capital and operating), along with their reasons to the Town. The feedback will be used to inform the 2014 budget and will be reported to Council on December 5.

Residents can access the survey via or until November 22, 2013. Every resident who completes the full survey will be eligible to win one of three prizes valued at $100 each.

'Participation from residents in the budget process is an important part of how we set priorities and preferred services levels. We wanted to modernize the consultation budget process to get more residents involved during the planning stages and to make it more convenient for residents to have their say. The Budget Builder tool not only allows us to educate the public on the budget process but it is a forum for residents to prioritize spending.'  Rob Ford, Director of Finance/Treasurer
