The Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc launched its newly-refreshed municipal website on Friday, March 11, 2016.

The site showcases a new design that reflects the community and its growing digital needs. With online services becoming a necessity for businesses and communities, Strathroy-Caradoc wanted to update its website to include mobile responsiveness and new online features that would meet the need for a more efficient website solution.

The project took just over four months to complete with the help of eSolutionsGroup (eSolutions), a leading digital solutions company with a long history of working with clients in the public sector, including more than 300 municipalities across Canada.

Along with creating an innovative and welcoming online environment for the community, Strathroy-Caradoc also focused on requests from citizens related to new services and mobile-friendly design.

"Our goal is to continually enhance our online presence to improve access to municipal programs, services, and information," said Strathroy-Caradoc Mayor Joanne Vanderheyden. "The changes we have made to the site respond to the trends we have observed over the last few years, including a preference toward accessing online content through mobile devices, and a desire to conduct business with the municipality outside of regular hours of operation."

The updated website was developed in response to community feedback, and has the ability to include online features designed to help citizens and visitors to the municipality complete interactions and transactions online whenever possible. Online environments change on a regular basis, and Strathroy-Caradoc is keeping up with those changes with its refreshed and mobile-friendly website.

The newly redesigned site replaces a municipal website that was first launched in 2012.

"From a technology perspective, websites usually last about three years before they need to be revamped to meet the changing needs and wants of any audience," said Karen Mayfield, President of eSolutions. "Strathroy-Caradoc is continuously improving and investing in its website to serve its community with the best tools available now."

Strathroy-Caradoc's web redesign project includes a number of service-oriented and user-friendly features, including:

  • A responsive web design, suitable for all mobile devices
  • Enhanced news and calendar modules with customizable functions and features, including opportunities to subscribe to news alerts and filter events by category
  • An interactive listing of parks and facilities
  • An online registration system for parks and recreation programs and for the booking of parks and recreation facilities

One of the most significant new online services integrated into Strathroy-Caradoc's website is Bids & Tenders - an award-winning, end-to-end e-procurement solution. Offering vendors an easy-to-use and more efficient e-tendering tool, Strathroy-Caradoc is meeting the demands for simplified, paperless processes.

"Companies that bid on our projects and services will find that task much easier using the new Bids & Tenders tool," said Website Project Manager Andrew Meyer. "The system will allow registered companies to not only download bid packages, but also submit their bids online through the municipal website in one quick, easy, and convenient location. Interested bidders will also have the ability to submit questions related to bid opportunities online, and have them answered through an addendum circulated to all bidders. As well, firms that register on an annual basis will be able to bid on projects offered by the 62 municipalities across southern Ontario and Canada that use the Bids & Tenders system."
