The President of the Municipal Information Systems Association, Ontario (MISA Ontario), Morgan Calvert, received an invitation from the Honourable Rod Phillips, Minister of Finance, to represent MISA Ontario and participate in the 2020 Ontario Pre-Budget Consultation.
The event was hosted in the City of Mississauga and attendance was restricted to one delegate per organization. Each testimony was allotted three minutes of speaking time.
Since then, Morgan has put together a more fulsome statement that was submitted to the 2020 Ontario Pre-Budget Consultation for the Government of Ontario's consideration.
In this document, he expands on the following priorities:
- Expansion of broadband infrastructure
- Building municipal resiliency through enhanced cybersecurity efforts
- Expansion of the Municipal Modernization Program (MMAH)
He also encourages the Province to look at opportunities to work more closely with the municipal associations in Ontario, through information sharing, collaboration and the development of new funding to help build capacity for Ontario municipalities.
“This is a significant opportunity for MISA Ontario to be able to bring key strategic priorities to the Province.” said Morgan Calvert, MISA Ontario President.
On behalf of MISA Ontario, we extend our sincere thanks to the Ontario Finance Minister, the Honourable Rod Phillips, for inviting our association to this discussion, and we thank Morgan Calvert for his representation and bringing our voice to these budget consultations.
We encourage you to download a copy and share this document within your organization.
