On Thursday, April 9, over 50 MISA Ontario municipal & affiliate members attended this virtual discussion focused on COVID-19 phishing, overall network issues and mitigation advice.

The moderator of the discussion was Nick Powers, Manager IT Security, City of Peterborough with the following presenters:

  • Julia Le – Senior Manager, Education & Centre of Excellence Unit, Government of Ontario
  • David Hayes – Director, Cyber Security Operations Branch, Government of Ontario
  • Veronique Menard – Liaison Officer, Canadian Centre for Cyber Security
  • Adam ‘Abe’ Abernethy – Network Security Manager, City of Oshawa

It was a great discussion that incorporated cyber incident sharing and lessons learned. Valuable information was drawn both from the presenters and attendees. We are currently exploring future virtual sessions like this.

We want to thank everyone who participated. If you are interested in being part of a future panel, please share your interest or feedback at info@misa.on.ca. In the meantime, members can visit the Shared Resource page, log into their account to download a PDF copy of the presentation deck, as well as the poll results.
