MISA Teams Up With KidsAbility

June 7, 2013  Waterloo, ON

The Municipal Information Systems Association of Ontario (MISA), held their annual conference and trade show this week in Waterloo.  A key component of this event was focused on raising funds for the local charity, KidsAbility - a dynamic, multi-faceted organization that serves children with a wide range of special needs.  This includes children with developmental disabilities and delays related to premature birth, medical syndromes such as Down syndrome, coordination disorders, and autism; physical disabilities such as muscular dystrophy, spina bifida and cerebral palsy; and communication difficulties in language, articulation, fluency and voice.

MISA Ontario President, Dan Munns noted, "This is a popular component of our conference and delegates are pleased to support a local charity each year.  KidsAbility does amazing work with youth in the community, and that is something we are proud to support”.  During the course of the conference, delegates raised $12,200 and presented a cheque to Lisa Talbot, Executive Director of KidsAbility, at the MISA Awards Banquet on June 4.

"It is through our community’s support that last year over 5,000 children and youth with special needs benefitted from the life-changing therapy and support services here at KidsAbility,” says Talbot. "We are honoured to have been chosen as the charity of choice to benefit from the incredible generosity of all of the delegates and trade show partners at MISA’s annual conference.”

MISA Ontario was established in the mid-1970s to assist municipal government representatives and others interested in the effective use of information technology to provide better and more cost-effective services to municipal taxpayers and clients.  Visit us online at
