Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville Launches NEW Website & Social Media

The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville has officially launched its new and improved corporate website – The website was developed based on feedback received in a survey to residents as well as input from Whitchurch-Stouffville Town Council and Town staff.

"The Town’s new website will enhance our residents’ and visitors’ experience and provide them with easier access to information,” says Mayor Wayne Emmerson. "Our community has stressed the importance of providing them with a website that is informative, accessible and easy to navigate, and our new website delivers these key features.”

Mayor Emmerson and Members of Council launched the Town’s new website and social media accounts at the November 19 Meeting of Council.

The Town is pleased to announce that BrowseAloud, an accessibility tool that provides online reading support for websites, is now available to users on the Town’s site. BrowseAloud is designed to assist those with literacy difficulties, cognitive disabilities, mild visual impairments and those with English as a second language. In accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, the Town’s new website meets the required compliance.

The Town has also launched its new mobile app – PingStreet. PingStreet is accessible from all types of mobile devices and is designed to optimize the user’s experience from their smartphone or tablet. Download the app directly to your smartphone/tablet, input your Town address and get key information based on where you live in Whitchurch-Stouffville.

Other key features of the new website include:

  • New domain – (no longer .com)
  • Enhanced design and layout
  • Interactive mapping tools and solutions
  • Improved search capability including predictive search functionality to provide easier and more efficient access to online information
  • Community and Council calendars
  • Emergency broadcast alerts on the homepage
  • An "I’d like to …” section that provides quick access to information
  • New feedback tools for users

The Town has also ventured into the social media world by launching its corporate Facebook and Twitter accounts in conjunction with the relaunch of the website. Social media will provide residents and businesses with another resource to obtain information about what is going on in Whitchurch-Stouffville.
