The Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc has received a gold award in the 2016 Hermes Creative Awards competition for its newly-redesigned website. The site was launched in March.
The Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition that recognizes outstanding work of creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional and emerging media. Hermes Creative Awards recognizes outstanding work in the industry while promoting the philanthropic nature of marketing and communication professionals.
The Strathroy-Caradoc site showcases a new design that reflects the community and its growing digital needs. With online services becoming a necessity for businesses and communities, Strathroy-Caradoc wanted to update its website to include mobile responsiveness and new online features that would meet the need for a more efficient website solution.
Strathroy-Caradoc's web redesign project includes a number of service-oriented and user-friendly features, including:
- A responsive web design suitable for all mobile devices
- Enhanced news and calendar modules with customizable functions and features, including opportunities to subscribe to news alerts and filter events by category
- An interactive listing of parks and facilities
- An online registration system for parks and recreation programs and for the booking of parks and recreation facilities
One of the most significant new online services integrated into Strathroy-Caradoc's website is Bids & Tenders - an award-winning, end-to-end e-procurement solution. Offering vendors an easy-to-use and more efficient e-tendering tool, Strathroy-Caradoc is meeting the demands for simplified, paperless processes.
The project took just over four months to complete with the help of eSolutionsGroup (eSolutions), a leading digital solutions company with a long history of working with clients in the public sector, including more than 300 municipalities across Canada.
The Hermes competition is administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (www.amcpros.com). The international organization consists of several thousand marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, digital media production, and freelance professionals. AMCP oversees awards and recognition programs, provides judges, and awards outstanding achievement and service to the profession.
The name Hermes (Greek messenger) chosen to represent the role as the messengers and creators of marketing and communication materials and programs.
Judges are industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry. There were about 6,000 entries from both public agencies and private sector companies in 195 categories from throughout Canada, the United States, and many other countries in the Hermes Creative Awards 2016 competition.
